DITCH THE
DEGREE

A four-year degree is no longer the only way into a real career, and for a lot of families it is the most expensive way to find that out. Connor Boyack, author of Skip College, walks through what is actually working now: which employers have dropped the degree requirement, what they screen for instead, how a young adult builds proof an employer can see, and how to get started without building debt. Watch the full session free, whenever it suits you.

What you'll walk away with

Practical and useful information as you and your teen navigate what's next.

THE NUMBERS

What the bill actually looks like

Student loan debt now exceeds all credit card debt in the country. More than half of recent graduates are working jobs that never required the degree. We'll put the real figures in front of you and show you how to run them for your own family.

THE ASSUMPTIONS

Three beliefs worth re-testing

That you need a degree to get hired, that college is the best way to get educated, and that it's how you build a network. Connor takes each one apart with what employers are actually doing in 2026.

THE NEW SIGNAL

How your teen becomes their own credential

A portfolio, shipped projects, real work done for real people. What replaces a transcript when a resume is sitting in a stack with four hundred others that all look the same.

Your host

Connor Boyack

President of Libertas Network and author of the Tuttle Twins series and Skip College, books that have sold millions of copies to families who decided the default path wasn't the only path.

He has spent years on one question: what a young person should do when the default path doesn't fit. In this session, he covers how college no longer suits the needs of many young adults looking to start their careers.

Worth saying up front: Connor is also the President of Praxis, a college alternative program built around this approach, and he spends the last stretch of the hour showing you how it works and how it compares to college.

What's covered

  1. The conveyor belt nobody questions

Elementary to middle school to high school to college to a job, maybe. Why the last step gets far less scrutiny from parents than any of the ones before it.

  2. Who already dropped the degree requirement

The household-name employers and state governments that no longer ask for one, and the specific things they screen for instead.

  3. Why four years is now a long time

How fast the skills employers pay for are turning over, what that does to a curriculum written years ago, and what it means for a freshman starting this fall.

  4. Where a real network actually comes from

Why a room full of people the same age and life stage isn't one, and what to do instead. Plus an honest look at the campus environment your teen would be spending those years in.

  5. The paths nobody brings up at the college fair

Trades and apprenticeships, self-directed learning and certifications, starting something at 18, and structured career-launch programs. What each one is good for.

  6. Becoming the signal instead of the noise

The concrete moves that get a young person hired without a degree: create a portfolio, build something real, do the work before asking for the job.

  7. One structured way to do all of it: Praxis

At the end, a straight walkthrough of the program, what it costs, and who it is right for. Helpful information as you navigate various options during this important time.

  8. The questions parents actually ask

Connor works through the objections and the hard questions directly, including the ones that don't flatter the case. Chances are one of them is yours.

Before you watch

Is this an hour of useful information or a sales pitch?

Mostly the first, and we'd rather be specific than coy. Roughly 80% of the hour is strategy for building a career without a degree, and it's useful whether or not you ever look at Praxis. The last stretch is a walkthrough of the program and its details.

Do I have to watch at a set time?

No. This was recorded live and it's now available on demand. Sign up and it opens immediately. Watch it in one sitting or in pieces, and come back to it from the link we email you.

My teen already has a college plan. Is this still worth my time?

Yes. Most of what gets covered here, what employers hire for and how to get experience early, makes a degree worth more, not less. Plenty of parents come to pressure-test a decision they've already made.

Should my teen watch with me?

If they're seriously considering their options, yes. Watching together tends to surface questions neither of you had alone. If they can't sit down with you, forward them the link.

What if my teen isn't sure what they want to do?

That's most of them. Much of the session is about how to get useful information about yourself faster than four years and six figures. Come with the uncertainty.

Can I ask a question?

The session covers the questions parents raise most often, so there's a good chance yours is answered in it. If it isn't, there's a link under the video to book a call with someone on the team and talk through your own situation.

What is Praxis?

An 8-month alternative to college, run online. Six weeks to build skills and a plan, then six months of business fundamentals in sales, marketing, operations and customer service alongside a supported job search. The program takes students from 17 to 25; this session is aimed at families with a teen deciding what comes right after high school. Connor covers what each phase costs and who it fits in the recording.

One hour. No degree required.
